And now for the wine!

Leather tool kits - hardware section in BHV (dept. store) - what every man needs!
It's the end of the week and to finish up our last two days, before we leave for Burgundy, we decided to check out the boutiques and shops close to our apartment.  The French window displays are a treat.  With their close attention to detail and color we could have spent days just window shopping.

The tiny streets and alleyways of the Marais district near our place - provide for numerous small boutiques and specialty shops
Meandering in and out of these streets was fun and it felt like stepping back into the Medieval days.  When the city was renovated by Haussman, many of the old buildings in Paris were torn down to enable broad avenues like Champs d' Elysees to be built.  Luckily, most of the Marais district was untouched and these small charming alley ways remain as they were.  Small businesses are able to flourish in this environment.

The Bastille monument - what's left of the Bastille that is - where the revolution started.
Today we packed our bags, ate a wonderful final dinner out at our favorite little Corsican restaurant (around the corner) and we're getting prepared to head out tomorrow for Burgundy.  We'll be picking up a leased car at the Orly airport and will then drive from Orly to Mont St. Jean - about a 3 - 4 hour drive. This will be a new adventure for us - driving in France! This is good for us and it keeps those "little gray cells" from languishing.  We're ready now to be surrounded by green and the countryside.

    1. OMG - see the email we just sent you! When you visit, you must make a small detour to central France to visit Burgundy and the Les Roches Chateau...You would love it!
We were sad to leave Paris and all the wonderful things that Paris offers, but we are now in the gorgeous French countryside in a tiny medieval village - Mont St. Jean and it is absolutely charming. We were awakened this morning by the local cows mooing...tough life here. We'll be off today to explore the local "attic sale" venues and the small medieval hamlets around here...N and E
