The Joy of Simple Accomplishments!

Yes; finally success!  We now have an "official CA" license plate for our Casita and we registered her at the smallest DMV office in CA - in Needles - a two-person office with no lines (it took about 30 minutes total) and we actually walked away holding the plate.  It's amazing what can be accomplished with the right people helping out.

We're now legal for CA

Yesterday, due to the heavy winds (they were blowing in the 30 - 60 mph range), and the need to wait for a UPS overnight delivery of our new debit cards (B of A canceled customer debit cards as the result of the "Target" debacle last December), we stayed an extra day in Needles at a KOA RV park. Then, today, we plan to head out for Valley of Fire, Zion, Lake Mead and other points east - still "to be determined" based on the wind and weather. So, we caught up on bills, emails, laundry and the other mundane every-day tasks. And, we relaxed by the pool and warmed up.

See our new name?
Some signs we saw yesterday while on the road from Holder to Needles:
  • Just Ducky (with water, water nowhere)
  • Road Kill Cafe -  vestiges of Hwy 66
  • Really Fresh Jerky (is jerky ever fresh?)
  • Jack Rabbit - a community
  • Devil Dog Road (scary place to walk)

Lessons we are learning, while on the road:
  • Relax...we're retired with no deadline (as A-type personalities, this is a tough one for us).
  • Don't worry, we don't have to visit a certain park or place if it's not easy to get there and obtain a camping spot.
  • Focus on the smaller, lesser known places which are far less crowded.
  • Enjoy the simple places and things (like a warm spot by the pool in Needles)
  • We're meeting the nicest people - generous, thoughtful and helpful!
Dusk descends...
Enjoy your day today!
